Those attending the Art Gallery of Sudbury's annual general meeting Oct. 21 will have a chance to meet For Better or For Worse creator Lynn Johnston.

Residing in Corbeil, her comic strip appears in more than 2,000 newspapers around the world.

She is a Gemini Award winner and Pulitzer Prize nominee, and the first female to ever win the prestigious Reuben Award from the U.S.-based National Cartoonists Society.

The art gallery will also be honouring local artist Ivan Wheale as its first inductee of “Honorary Fellow.”

“The gallery is proud to recognize him for his ongoing support of the gallery as an artist and as a long-standing member throughout his career, making the first inductee an easy choice,” a press release said.

The presentations involving Johnston and Wheale take place starting at 5:30 p.m., during the reception portion of the meeting.

From 4:30 until 5:30 p.m., members in good standing have the opportunity to have their say on the past year’s work and direct the board towards actions for the upcoming year. Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres will be served starting at 5 p.m.
