Mobile Marketing Trends to Watch in 2021

Iron Insights

It’s somewhat difficult to encounter a person who isn’t a mobile user these days. If your customers are using phones or tablets to conduct business, personal tasks, or anything in between, mobile marketing should be a crucial aspect of your overall digital strategy. So, what mobile marketing trends do Ironistic’s team members predict will take off or continue to dominate in 2021? Take a look.

An increase in location-targeted mobile ads.

Shop local has been on the rise for many years and while Amazon and Walmart DOMINATED 2020 during the pandemic, local businesses rapidly evolved to try and compete. Not only was there a strong sentimental push for shopping local, but small businesses stepped up their local marketing and eCommerce games as well. I think we’ll see stiffer competition from local mobile marketing in 2021 centered around more geo-targeting for coupons, specials, and other ad messages. I think we’ll also see a continued rise in voice search, triggered both by mobile devices. For more on voice search, check out our rambling here.

Scale of mobile commerce.

The scale of mobile commerce, or m-commerce, has grown exponentially. With consumers getting increasingly comfortable shopping online, optimizing your website for mobile is crucial. The impact of COVID-19 has further pushed consumers away from shopping malls and toward online shopping sources.

Communicating through mobile devices.

In 2021, we have to evolve with the crazy times we live in. Websites need to be entirely mobile-friendly because so many people are working from home and are on their devices as part of their communication. Chatbots are huge for communicating this year, as many offices remain closed, and yet communication needs to be open. Video content is also key to conveying messages easily and quickly in our fast-paced culture. Keep up the good work in making your websites perfect for your audience!

Video content

I have my eye on location-targeted mobile ads and video content optimized for mobile. With more people than ever before staying local due to COVID, you can bet that location-targeted mobile ad spend will continue to increase this year. Video content isn’t anything new or surprising but it will also continue to grow as one of the most popular forms of content consumption.

Further utilization of video content marketing.

TikTok is poised to become a bigger player in the influencer game than it already is — if it can get around the privacy. Podcast marketing may also hit a saturation point, but it’s still currently one of the most undervalued marketing channels available.

Videos through social media.

Video content marketing has been on an upward trend over the last few years and it looks like it is here to stay! Most people are consuming videos online through social media – so this is a BIG audience some companies may be missing out on if they don’t utilize mobile video content marketing.

Enhanced visuals on mobile devices.

I don’t know if this is going to be an actual trend or not. However, I hope it becomes one. Altered reality is such an awesome way to creatively market to people. The things that you can do with it are just getting better and better. It really leaves a lasting effect on people, too. Jumping on this trend early will help your brand stand out of the pack!
