Donald Trump poked fun Monday at Hillary Clinton’s maiden name, suggesting that the former secretary of state has stopped using “Rodham” because it sounds too much like “rotten.”
“Why did Hillary get rid of her middle name?” Mr. Trump said at a campaign event in Roanoke, Virginia. “Hillary ‘Rotten’ Clinton. ‘Rotten’ Clinton. Hillary ‘Rotten’ Clinton.
“Maybe that’s why, its too close,” he said. “It’s too close.”
Mr. Trump has had a field day painting Mrs. Clinton in a negative light, nicknaming her “Crooked Hillary” during the 2016 GOP primary.
