Students at the Valley Forge Military Academy in Wayne, Pennsylvania, spent roughly an hour in lockdown on Monday evening during a shooting scare, but authorities now believe the sound initially thought to be gunshots was just bubble wrap, NBC Philadelphia reported on Monday.

“The situation appears to be one where a female student in the dorms of Eastern University heard what she thought were shots fired. She diligently called 9-1-1,” NBCPhiladelphia.com quoted Jamie Bilella, a vice president for enrollment management and marketing at Valley Forge.

Eastern University is a Christian college adjacent to the Valley Forge campus. PVI-TV, ABC’s Philadelphia affiliate, said that the woman who alerted police lives in an Eastern University-managed apartment complex that actually sits on the Valley Forge campus, which is 13 miles northwest of downtown Philadelphia.

“Further investigation indicated that it was more than likely bubble wrap,” Mr. Bilella added. “There is no indication of any threat, of any weapon, of shots fired or any injury.”
