“I speak to him a lot” – Alvaro Morata reveals surprising friendship with Diego Costa

Chelsea’s record-signing Alvaro Morata has made a surprising revelation on his circle of friends.

The Spanish international is apparently in active talking terms with former Blues striker Diego Costa, who left the club this summer making a return to his former side Atletico Madrid.

According to Morata, he’s good friends with Costa and talks to him ‘quite a lot’. The former Juventus and Real Madrid man says the two have discussed about their potential partnership at Chelsea, which eventually never happened.

People remember [Costa at Chelsea]. I speak to him quite a lot. There was a chance that we might have played together but in the end that didn’t happen.

We’ve started [the season] well but not everything has gone as we would have liked. We’ve slipped up in a couple of games and we can’t afford to do that.

Only a while ago we were quite far behind [Manchester] United and [Manchester] City. But we beat United just before the international break and we are only one point off second place.

Morata has started the season strongly, just like Costa did when he first signed for Chelsea in the summer of 2014. The 25-year-old has bagged eight goals for the Blues this season, and has also boosted his position in the national team with his good form under Julen Lopetegui.

Spain faced Costa Rica in an international friendly last night, and Morata scored the team’s second in a 5-0 win for the Spaniards.
