Content Creation and Marketing Hacks You Might Not Be Using

Here’s  7 content creation and marketing hacks that you might not know about…but should.

Are you finding it difficult attracting readers and clients to your coaching practice with your current content creation and marketing efforts?

Don’t worry, you’re not the only one.

The majority of coaches and healers who create content don’t know how to attract clients with their current content and content marketing tactics.

I’m going to show you 7 simple content creation and marketing hacks that you can use to improve your content creation and marketing so that you can attract more clients to your coaching practice.

And when you create better content, it is much easier to market it and get results.

Hack #1: Brainstorm Content ideas That Matter

Used to be that it was okay to create content that just appeal to search engines.   However today if you are running an online business, you will want to focus on creating content that relates to what you do and is helpful to your target audience.

Note that you may not nail a content idea that is wildly popular every single time.   But, if you make it a practice to research content ideas, keywords and put them together you will have a much better chance of being able to spread your work to a wider audience.

What do I mean by this?

I suggest you brainstorm content ideas more by researching them.  You can start by looking at competitor’s sites and researching hot content topics using a tool like Buzzsumo first.  Once you have your content ideas mapped out, then go and look for keyword ideas that match up with your content list.

When you use this approach to content creation you’ll have a better chance of getting found via keyword search and show up with content that actually matters to your business and audience.

Here’s how to get started:

  • What content categories lineup with your products and services?
  • Once you have those categories written down and I suggest that you have three to six categories then it’s time to begin the research process by looking at your competitors and seeing what kind of content they have created in each of these categories.
  • Use a tool like Buzzsumo to also validate your content categories and come up with more content ideas.
  • Can you repurpose your content into a video, a podcast, Facebook Live, or an Infographic? Take a look at the content you’ve already created and note which ones you’ve already written have had the most comments and social media shares.
  • How easily can you connect with industry influencers and ask them to share your content?
  • What’s the best day/time to publish your content you’ve created?

Knowing the answers to all of these questions will help you create better content, the kind that will help you grow your business.

Hack #2: Write in-depth articles

If you want to take advantage of Search Engine Traffic, you’ll love this content creation and marketing hack.

Make it a point to occasionally write in-depth articles. What I mean by and in-depth is that you want to go deep into a particular subject that is meaningful to your audience.

I like to choose a topic that is highly popular with my audience and go deep. Going deep means that you begin by doing research and then write an article that is over 2000 words…just like writing those papers in school!

Here’s a list of things that you should keep in mind when creating an in-depth article:

  • Pick a subject/topic that’s meaningful to your audience and relates back to what services and products you sell. – e.g., content creation, content marketing – then dive deep into it.
  • Research and find a keyword that you can easily target. – e.g., How to Build an Email List.
  • Research current, accurate statistics that you can use to back up facts and opinions. Just like when you did those research papers in High School and/or College.
  • Create content that is easily consumed and interesting to your audience. Keep your paragraphs short, use bullets, and have an open and close to your content that pulls it all together.
  • Add relevant images, graphics, videos, or slide presentations.
  • Add a CTA that will help you collect email leads in the body of your content. e.g., download a free report, checklist, or whatever content you have that directly relates to the content you’ve created.
  • Where possible, link out to relevant authority sites, especially when quoting statistics.

Hack #3: Leverage the “above-the-fold” area of your Content

Above-the-fold is that area in your page that’s visible when it loads before your reader begins to consume your content and scrolls down.

Statistics show that people will scroll down a web page, but they’ll spend 80% of their time above-the-fold and 20% or less of their time below-the-fold.

Use this area to place a CTA that will help you collect email leads.  This could be a free report, checklist, or whatever content you have that directly relates to the content you’ve created.

If you place your CTA above-the-fold, you’ll definitely get more views for that info and build your email list. This is an effective content marketing strategy you should use whenever possible with your content.

Hack #4: Reach a wider audience with your content

Make sure that you include a content repurposing approach with your content process. You want to have a process in place that helps you get the most out of your content.

An example is that you create written content, do a Facebook Live, download it and then turn it into both video and audio content to publish on Youtube and on a Podcast.  So you’ve taken one piece of content and turned it into 4 pieces.

Then you take the video content and turn them in shorter versions think 60 seconds or less so you can use them on Instagram and other social media platforms.

Here’s the shortlist:

  • Write an article
  • Turn it into a Facebook Live
  • Download the Video – put it on your article and on Youtube
  • List Item #3
  • Turn the audio into a Podcast
  • Create shorter videos from your long video to post out on various social media platforms

Hack #5: Send Your Content to Your List

You are probably already sending your list an email letting them know you’ve got new content… but have you ever considered sending this email twice?

I’m not talking about sending it to the same people twice.  Most email providers let you see who did not open the email.  What you do with those people is to resend the email to anyone who did not open the first one.

What you want to do is to wait 3 days and then go in and see who did not open the original email and send it to them.

Make sure that you change the subject line before you send it.

Hack #6: Set Up push notifications on your website

When you use push notifications you are able to let people know you have new content published right away and it pops up in their browser so this is a great way to drive repeat visitors to your site and is a fast way for you to regularly connect with your audience.

Have you been on a website where they ask if they can send you notifications when new content is published? These are push notifications and they are clickable messages sent to a subscriber via their browser and can be accessed on all devices including desktop, mobile, tablet, etc

As soon as a ‘visitor’ becomes a ‘subscriber’, you can then send them to push notifications from your website.

There are some great WordPress plugins that will make this easier for you to install and set up.  You can customize the title message and text mess

The title message and the text message are customizable within certain character limits and a URL has to be specified. These notifications will arrive in real-time even if the browser is not open at that point in time. Clicking on the notification will take the subscriber to the URL specified.

Hack #7: Leverage internal linking

I like to use this technique on both blog posts and resource pages.

Why you want to add internal links to your content is to keep people on your blog consuming your content.  This drives your traffic up and increases the time spent on your site and decreases the bounce rate all of which signals to search engines that your site is an authority site.

Resource pages are where you write content on a single topic and link to the content you have on your site.  A good example is to create a resource page on a content category you have created a lot of content on. On the page, you organize your topic and link to articles that you have written.

It’s a win-win for both you and your website visitors.  You keep people on your site consuming your content and your audience has everything they need to know about a certain hot category or a topic in one easy-to-access place.
