Ireland’s energy regulator has announced the new payment tariff for Solar PV.
It has set the tariff rate at 0 cents per kWh. (zero).
This may surprise some but the strategy is simple. It is up to suppliers to make you an offer. Will suppliers bother making you an offer ?
It is likely they may not bother but Ireland has met its requirement to have a scheme in place before the deadline.
You may ask how does this make sense. ?. You must remember the scheme or the requirement to have a scheme in place is a requirement of the EU renewable energy directive, it is not being done because someone wanted to do it. If someone wanted to do it, it would have been in place already.
The best way to harness renewable energy is to use it to avoid buying energy in the first place.
